The Bolgatanga Technical University has officially launched its 25th anniversary celebration, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s history.

The event was characterized by a call to action, emphasizing the need for hard work, unity, and collective effort to drive the university’s continued growth and development. Delivering his address, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Samuel Erasmus Alnaa, acknowledged the invaluable contributions of past and present management and staff.

He expressed gratitude for their dedication and commitment to the university’s progress. Professor Alnaa emphasized the importance of unity and togetherness in achieving the institution’s goals. He urged the university community to work collaboratively, leveraging their diverse strengths and expertise to drive growth and development.

“We must find strength in our strength to be able to develop and grow. So, as staff, as we are marking our 25th anniversary, we have to do away with all petty quarrels, unnecessary fights, infighting, and all those negative tendencies that threaten the unity, development, and growth of this university. Whatever we do, let us remember that we are supposed to train the young ones to take over.”

The 25th anniversary celebration is expected to feature a range of activities. The President and Founder of the Millar Institute for Transdisciplinary and Development Studies, Prof. David Millar, in a keynote address, appreciated all key stakeholders for their contributions over the past 25 years. Prof. Millar called on current management to continue raising the standards of the university.

The university’s commitment to providing quality education and promoting socio-economic development in the region is expected to be reinforced throughout the anniversary celebrations. As the institution looks to the future, it is clear that the values of unity, hard work, and collective effort will remain essential in driving its continued success.

Speaking on behalf of the Upper East Regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih, the Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive, Rex Asanga, acknowledged the importance of technical universities. According to him, technical universities, with the various programs they offer, provide opportunities for employment, which he said will go a long way in reducing the unemployment rate in the country.
