My friends, we have come to the end of a long, arduous journey. The people of the Zebilla Constituency have spoken, and they have spoken clearly. A little while ago, I had the honour of calling my junior brother, Hon Ebenezer Alumire Ndebilla — to congratulate him on being elected the next Member of Parliament of the Zebilla constituency.
His success alone commands my respect for his fortitude and perseverance in a contest as tricky as ours. Ebenezer and I have argued our differences, and he has prevailed. Many of those differences remain, and there are challenging times ahead. I commit to him to do all I can to help him lead us through the many challenges we face as a constituency.
To my team – Advisory Board, Constituency Executives, EA Coordinators, PS executives, campaign coordination members, JK ladies, sympathizers, etc. It is natural to feel some disappointment, but we must move beyond it and look into the future positively. We fought as hard as we could, and though we fell short, our failure was mine, not yours. I am so profoundly grateful to all of you for the great honour of your support and all you have done for me. I wish the outcome had been different, but the road was problematic from the outset, and it became more complicated with the recent events in Bawku. But your support and friendship never wavered. I cannot adequately express how deeply indebted I am to you all.
I am incredibly grateful to my wife, Comfort, my children, my dear mother, all my family, and the many dear friends who have stood by my side through this challenging campaign’s many ups and downs. I have always been a fortunate man, and never more so for the love and encouragement you have given me.
I don’t know what more we could have done to win this election. I will leave that to others to determine. Every candidate makes mistakes, and I am sure I made my share of them. But I will not spend a moment of the future regretting what might have been. We made a huge contribution in addressing the basic needs of our people and we should remain proud of what we have achieved together.
Thank you, and God bless you all.
Dr John Kingsley Krugu
