Ghana’s U17 female soccer team, the Black Maidens, made history by winning the 2024 edition of the WAFU Zone B U17 Girls Cup hosted in Ghana. They defeated Nigeria in the final on penalties, triumphing 5-4 after a thrilling 2-2 draw.
The team had a remarkable tournament, including a resounding 5-0 victory over Côte d’Ivoire in the semi-finals, where Zipporah Ayantoya scored one of the goals.
Zipporah Ayantoya and the Black Maidens have made Ghana proud with their stellar performances throughout the tournament, culminating in their victory.
Ayantoya, who plays for Sumbrungu Kunkua Ladies, delivered outstanding performances that were crucial to the Black Maidens’ success in the WAFU Zone B U17 Girls Cup. Her skill and dedication on the field were instrumental in securing the championship title.
The final match against Nigeria took place on Sunday, 22nd December 2024, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, Accra.
