Prophet Joseph Billa, founder of Amazing Power Ministry, has acknowledged that the Christmas holiday has grown in scale, with celebrations becoming “bigger and better.” However, he emphasized that the essence of Christmas remains unchanged—centered around love, forgiveness, and compassion.

“Back in the day and now, the only difference is that things are a bit more expensive now,” he noted. “Christmas, at its core, is about love, forgiveness, and teaching compassion.”

Speaking on A1 Radio, he reminded listeners that Christmas is not just a day of festivities but also a time to reflect on the values of kindness and charity, especially towards the less privileged. He encouraged people to show love and care for others during this season and beyond. “During times like this, we should show love to the less privileged,” he said.

The prophet also addressed the pressure many feel during the holiday season, particularly due to rising inflation and the increased cost of living. He advised against yielding to societal expectations of material gifts and extravagant purchases, urging families not to feel burdened by the need to buy expensive presents. Instead, he emphasized that moments of love and connection are what truly matter and that joy can be shared with loved ones at any time of the year.

“Christmas is every day, so you don’t need to put a lot of pressure on yourself,” he explained. “Saying, ‘I want to buy new clothes for my children, something for my girlfriend, or something for my husband’—you know? Christmas is every day, so resist that kind of pressure. Right now in Ghana, with the inflation rate and the cost of living, life is not easy.”

On the topic of charitable giving, Prophet Billa highlighted that while he regularly supports the community, it is more important to give within one’s means rather than feeling compelled to make grand gestures. He stressed that acts of kindness do not need to be large or publicized to make an impact, encouraging others to help whenever they can and with whatever resources they have.
