The Upper East Regional Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Jonathan Abdallah Salifu, has expressed optimism that one of the fifteen Members of Parliament (MPs) from the region could emerge as a leader in the ninth Parliament of Ghana’s Fourth Republic.

In a recent public post on his Facebook page, Mr. Salifu stated, “I can smell the leader of Ghana’s 9th Parliament coming from my region.”

Speaking further on A1 Radio, he reiterated his belief that the next Majority Leader is likely to come from the Upper East Region. “What I have personally gathered so far—unless there’s a liability—tells me that the next Majority Leader of Ghana’s Parliament is likely to be from the Upper East Region,” he asserted.

While he did not name a specific MP, Mr. Salifu mentioned that the individual is a highly experienced lawyer with an extensive political background, having served no fewer than three terms in Parliament.

However, he stressed that it is too early to confirm the MP’s appointment, as no official announcement has been made. “In the game of politics, until the announcement is made, we cannot definitively say this is the person,” he remarked.
