A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) communication team in the Upper East Region, Francis Adingo, has called for calm among supporters of the party in the Bolgatanga Central Constituency following dissatisfaction over President John Dramani Mahama’s ministerial appointments.
Some disgruntled supporters in the constituency have taken to social media to express frustration over the President’s decision not to appoint Isaac Adongo, the Member of Parliament for the constituency, to a ministerial position.
The aggrieved supporters argue that President Mahama had promised to give Mr. Adongo a ministerial role if he won the 2024 elections. They emphasized that the Bolgatanga Central Constituency has remained loyal to the NDC for years, consistently delivering victories for the party in both parliamentary and presidential elections.
Many constituents described Mr. Adongo as a vociferous advocate for the NDC, who has relentlessly challenged former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s presidential candidate. They expressed disappointment that such a strong and loyal figure has been excluded from the ministerial list.
Speaking on Bolga FM 102.7MHz, Francis Adingo urged the youth to refrain from taking the law into their own hands or engaging in destructive protests. He reminded supporters that President Mahama’s commitment to reducing the size of his government to achieve efficiency has influenced the regional balance of appointments.
“The President’s promise to cut down the number of ministers is part of his agenda to ensure prudent governance. While this has created regional imbalances, we must trust the President’s judgment and remain calm,” Mr. Adingo stated.
He assured constituents that Isaac Adongo remains a valued member of the NDC and expressed optimism that he would be considered for critical roles, such as Chairperson of Parliament’s Finance Committee, which plays a key role in advancing government business.
Mr. Adingo called on party members and supporters to maintain unity and avoid actions that could undermine the NDC’s credibility or derail its developmental agenda. He also encouraged supporters to channel their grievances through the appropriate party structures.
