Bolga FM’s major programmes leave lasting impression after just one week on air

Monday, January 20, 2025, marked a significant milestone in the Upper East Region’s media landscape as Bolga 102.7 FM, a new radio station, officially began broadcasting its programming and on-air talk shows. Within just one week of airing its major programmes, the station has already made a lasting impression on its listeners, resonating deeply with the community.

Bolga FM is operated by Agreed Best Communications (ABC), the same company that runs A1 Radio.

As part of the launch activities, Seidu Mutawakil hosted Humul Khrusum Tahiru, a management member of Bolga FM and Head of the Gender Desk at Agreed Best Communications, on the morning show Tinmaalgɔ Saŋa.

During the interview, Humul Khrusum Tahiru underscored the station’s core mission, stating, “At Bolga FM, our core mission is to amplify the voices of the marginalized and underrepresented within our community. We are committed to empowering our listeners with accurate and timely information, enabling them to hold duty bearers accountable and foster a sense of shared values and aspirations. By shaping our collective mindset and promoting inclusive development, we aim to create a more informed, engaged, and prosperous society.”

Listeners have quickly connected with an array of thoughtfully curated programs, including Zina Yɛla, Kaareba Saŋa, Tu buuri malema, Beyiinum Yinɛ Na’asegɔ, and Poka Mmeta Yire, which cater to the Gurune-speaking community in the Upper East Region and beyond.

Mrs. Tahiru highlighted these programs during her interview and emphasized plans to introduce content for diverse ethnic groups, reflecting the station’s commitment to inclusivity and diversity.

“We have carefully crafted our programming to educate, inform, and entertain our diverse audience. We are deeply committed to promoting inclusivity and celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Bolga and Ghana as a whole. Bolga FM will be a beacon of diversity, welcoming and respectful of all ethnic groups within the region and beyond. To reflect this commitment, we will be introducing programs in Hausa, Ewe, and other languages, ensuring that every voice is heard and every community is represented,” Mrs. Tahiru explained.

Joshua Asaah, host of the popular show Zina Yela, announced that the program, previously aired on A1 Radio, is now broadcast on Bolga 102.7 FM from Monday to Friday, 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. According to Mr. Asaah, Zina Yela tackles a wide range of pressing issues affecting the lives of people in the Upper East Region, from social and economic matters to politics and beyond. The show has quickly gained traction as a platform for holding politicians and duty bearers accountable, while empowering citizens to make their voices heard.

David Azure, host of Kaareba Saŋa, joined the conversation to highlight the show’s focus on agriculture and agribusiness. Kaareba Saŋa has already attracted farmers, farm input dealers, agricultural extension officers, and other stakeholders in the agricultural value chain.

Through the program, Mr. Azure aims to foster meaningful discussions and connections among these stakeholders, driving growth and development in the region’s agricultural sector.

With its impactful programming and dedication to amplifying marginalized voices, Bolga 102.7 FM has left an indelible mark on the community after just one week of broadcasting.
