The newly sworn-in Upper East Regional Minister, Donatus Akamugri Atanga, has outlined a series of transformative projects aimed at accelerating development in the region, with a particular focus on the long-awaited Pwalugu Multi-Purpose Dam and the proposed construction of an airport.

Speaking at his official residence after being warmly received by residents and party loyalists, Atanga expressed optimism about the region’s prospects, emphasizing that these initiatives could unlock unprecedented growth and opportunities for the people of the Upper East.

Atanga revealed that he has engaged with potential investors for the Pwalugu Multi-Purpose Dam Project, a landmark initiative expected to provide irrigation, hydroelectric power, and flood control to the region.

According to him, the discussions have yielded “positive vibes,” signaling renewed hope for the project’s realization.

The dam, which has been in the pipeline for years, is seen as a game-changer for the region’s agricultural sector, which remains the backbone of the local economy.

In addition to the dam, the Regional Minister highlighted plans for the construction of an airport in the Upper East Region. He stressed that improved air connectivity would not only boost tourism but also attract investments and facilitate trade, positioning the region as a hub for economic activity in northern Ghana.

Mr. Atanga emphasized that these projects, when completed, would address some of the region’s most pressing challenges, including unemployment, poverty, and underdevelopment.

The Minister’s remarks were met with enthusiasm by residents and party supporters, who expressed hope that the initiatives would finally come to fruition.

Mr. Atanga assured the people of his commitment to working tirelessly to ensure the region receives the development it deserves.

“When these projects are realized, the Upper East Region will stand a better chance of achieving the much-needed development we have been yearning for,” he stated.
