Upper East Regional Minister, Donatus Akamugri Atanga, has urged heads of departments and agencies to refrain from sabotaging government progress in the region. Mr. Akamugri emphasized his willingness to collaborate with everyone, regardless of their political background, to drive development in the region.
The Minister stressed that as civil servants, they have a responsibility to work towards the development of Ghana, rising above political affiliations. According to him, this is crucial in fostering a spirit of cooperation and unity among government agencies and departments for the betterment of the Upper East Region.
“If you are performing your job as expected, I wouldn’t have any problem with you. However, the only issue I will have is if you try to prevent the implementation of government policies. In that case, I will read some meanings into it. Ghanaians have given the mandate to political parties to rule for four years, and you have to help them implement their policies, isn’t that right? So why would you try to prevent a government policy that will help the region and the country as a whole?”
The minister made this statement during his first meeting with heads of departments and agencies in the region. Some department heads raised challenges they face, including inadequate staff and logistics, among others. The regional minister pledged to work hand in hand with these departments to help resolve them.
