RISE-Ghana, in collaboration with a 15-member inter-sectoral committee, has launched a manifesto tracker to strengthen accountability and promote inclusive governance in the Upper East Region.

This innovative platform aims to track campaign promises, monitor the allocation and use of MPs’ Common Fund, and conduct inter-constituency rankings based on the fulfillment of promises.

The manifesto tracker is designed to enhance transparency and responsiveness in governance and constituency development. By providing a comprehensive and user-friendly platform, RISE-Ghana and the inter-sectoral committee hope to promote accountability and improve service delivery in the region.

While speaking to the media, Gladys Apuweni, Chairperson of the 15-member inter-sectoral committee, highlighted some objectives and key features of the manifesto tracker.

According to Madam Apuweni, “The manifesto tracker offers a comprehensive and user-friendly platform designed to enhance transparency and responsiveness in governance and constituency development.”

The initiative is part of the STAR-Ghana-led Democracy and Inclusive Governance project, funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO).

The project covers the Bolgatanga Municipality, Nabdam, and Bongo districts and is expected to positively impact the lives of citizens in these areas.

Awal Ahmed Kariama, the Executive Director of RISE-Ghana, believes the 15-member inter-sectoral committee—which comprises representatives from civil society organizations, political parties, media, and youth and marginalized groups—will help drive development at the local level beyond partisanship.

“We realize that in Ghana, we are too partisan, and everything is political. We need to move to an era where citizens can engage their elected representatives in a nonpartisan manner,” he stated.

The Upper East Regional President of the Ghana Federation of Disabilities, Mark Akubire Atiah, who, along with some members of his association, attended the launch, expressed confidence that the committee will excel with their inclusion.
