Peter Ayinbisa, the Upper East Regional Communications Director for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has raised concerns about the return of power outages, commonly referred to as “dumsor,” in parts of Ghana. He cited reports of widespread blackouts in various regions, including Upper West (Wa) and the national capital, Greater Accra (Accra).

“Yesterday, if you listened to the interview with Joy News, you would see that many people believe dumsor is back,” he said.

According to Mr. Ayinbisa, these power disruptions have sparked public fears that the country may be facing a repeat of the electricity crisis experienced between 2012 and 2016.

“This government better wake up before they plunge this country into darkness again, just as they did when they were in power between 2012 and 2016.”

Speaking on A1 Radio, the NPP official urged the government to take immediate action to prevent a return to the prolonged power cuts that affected many Ghanaians for nearly three years. He emphasized the urgency of addressing the issue before it worsens, warning that if the outages persist, Ghanaians may not be as forgiving as they were in the past.

“They should not repeat that mistake because, this time around, the Ghanaian people will not forgive.”
