The Bolgatanga East District Coordinating Director in the Upper East Region, Michael Awini, has emphasized the need to prioritize education in all sectors of the district.

Speaking at the 68th Independence Day celebration, Mr. Awini noted that education is a vital pillar for development, yet the district is struggling to make progress in this area.

According to Mr. Awini, the district faces numerous challenges, including inadequate school infrastructure, insufficient teachers, and a high rate of school dropouts.

These issues, he stressed, require urgent attention and a collective effort to address. The Coordinating Director underscored the importance of education in driving development and growth in the district.

“Here in our district, however, we are challenged with inadequate school infrastructure, teacher shortages, and a persistent school dropout rate. I want to use this opportunity to call on all stakeholders to continue playing their roles in supporting and improving the quality of education in our district.”

The Coordinating Director also urged residents of the district to ensure peaceful coexistence for unity and development.

In the Bolgatanga East District, a total of 19 schools—comprising six Junior High Schools, six Primary Schools, three Private Schools, two Senior High Schools, one brass band, and one cadet group—participated in the 68th Independence Day celebrations. The event, held on March 6 at Agric Park in Zuarungu, was under the theme “Reflect, Review, Reset.”
