In an exhilarating display of skill and determination, Gambibigo Football Club (FC) emerged victorious in the maiden edition of the Asaa Music Festival 2025 football competition. The four-team tournament, held in Bolgatanga, saw Gambibigo FC claim the top spot after a thrilling penalty shootout against the Tindonsobigo community.
The competition kicked off with a nail-biting match between Bolga United and the Tindonsobigo community, with the latter winning on penalties. Meanwhile, Gambibigo FC secured a hard-fought victory over Zuarungu FC, also on penalties.
In the final showdown, Gambibigo FC and the Tindonsobigo community clashed in a goalless 60-minute match, ultimately decided by a penalty shootout. Gambibigo FC’s precision and strategy paid off, securing their triumph.
The winning team received a trophy, a football, and a cash prize, while the Tindonsobigo community took home the second-place prize. Bolga United secured third place, receiving a football and cash, while Zuarungu FC finished fourth.
Coach Ayine of Gambibigo FC and his players expressed their elation and gratitude, hoping for the competition’s continuation next year. They also appealed to SamAiam, the California-based artist and philanthropist, for support to help the team excel further, highlighting their abundance of talented players.
“We are happy about what happened today and the fact that we have won the game. We want to thank our brother for organizing the competition, and we also plead for support because we lack many things as a club. We have talented players, but we do not receive enough support.”
All four participating teams echoed the sentiment, calling for the games to become an annual tradition. SamAiam, in his address, urged the players to take their God-given talents seriously and pledged to organize even more exciting competitions in the future.
“I want to thank you all for the great talent you have showcased. Take what you are doing seriously because it can take you far, and we pray that next year’s event will be even bigger than today’s.”
