Alagumgube, a group of individuals from the Upper East Region, has donated vital items to the maternity ward of the Upper East Regional Hospital.

The items, two walkers, two beds, 10 mattresses, and 10 pillows, aims to support the critical work of hospital staff in ensuring the safety and well-being of mothers and newborns.

Gabriel Agambila, founder of Alagumgube, stated that the group recognizes the importance of maternal and child health in building a stronger and healthier community, hence the donation. According to Mr. Agambila, this marks Alagumgube’s second major philanthropic effort in the region, following a similar donation to the Navrongo Central Prison last year.

“This is the second time we are making a donation as a group. Our first donation was at the Navrongo Central Prison, and today, we are here at the regional hospital for our second. Health is very important, which is why we are prioritizing it at the moment. Things are not very good, especially at the maternity ward, where we understand that women give birth and sleep on the floor. That is why we are making this donation,” he explained.

Speaking on behalf of the Acting President of the Bolgatanga Traditional Council, Naba Sadik Ayine Inusah, the Chief of Gambibigo expressed excitement about the group’s efforts. According to Naba Sadik, the council is ready to collaborate with them to contribute further to the development of the region.

“Alagumgube recognizes that the health of our community begins with the health of our mothers and children. It is our hope that this donation will help improve the resources, equipment, and care available to those in need. Every mother deserves the best possible care, and every newborn deserves a healthy start in life,” he stated.

The Medical Director of the Regional Hospital, Dr. Saenwie Aiden, thanked Alagumgube for the gesture and assured the group that the donated items would be put to good use.
