The chiefs, elders, youth, and people of Sirigu in the Upper East Region have extended their profound gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for the nomination of Mr. Stephen Akurigu Aeke as District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Kassena-Nankana West District.
In a press release signed by Dr. David Adumbire, Convener of the Citizens of Sirigu, the community described the nomination as a “historic” and “momentous” occasion, marking the first time a native of Sirigu has been appointed to such a high office at the district level.
“This nomination is a powerful testament to President Mahama’s inclusive leadership and his commitment to recognizing and empowering grassroots leaders,” the statement said.
Mr. Aeke, a long-serving member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is widely admired in Sirigu for his loyalty and contributions to party organization and community mobilization. Having served three consecutive terms as Branch Chairman and currently holding the position of Other Youth Representative at the constituency level, his nomination was welcomed with excitement and optimism by the community.
The release emphasized that Mr. Aeke’s appointment is seen not just as a personal achievement but as a collective victory for Sirigu. It represents recognition of the community’s longstanding contributions to national and regional development and serves as a source of motivation for young people in the area.
“This nomination resonates far beyond the individual—it is a collective achievement and a source of motivation for every hardworking, selfless, and committed young person in the district,” the statement noted.
The Citizens of Sirigu assured President Mahama of their unflinching support and called on assembly members to unanimously endorse Mr. Aeke’s nomination.
They further expressed confidence that Mr. Aeke’s leadership would bring transparent, inclusive, and impactful governance to the district, aligning with the broader vision of President Mahama and the NDC for a more equitable and prosperous Ghana.
“We thank you sincerely for this historic recognition. May the Almighty continue to bless you with wisdom and strength as you work towards restoring hope and dignity to all Ghanaians,” the statement concluded.
