A1 Radio, a subsidiary of Agreed Best Communication Company operating in the Bolgatanga Municipality of the Upper East Region, has supported the parents of Micah Ayine, a one-year-old child with a critical hole-in-heart condition, with an amount of GHC 13,300.

The funds were raised by A1 Radio’s management, staff, and listeners to support Micah’s heart surgery at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

In November 2024, medical professionals at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital diagnosed then 8-month-old Micah Ayine with a hole-in-heart condition. The surgery was estimated to cost $8,000.

However, this significant amount posed a heavy financial burden on the family. In response, A1 Radio launched an urgent appeal for financial support in December 2024. Over the past five months, A1 Radio successfully mobilized a total of GHC 13,300 through donations from its listeners and staff to support baby Micah’s surgery.

Humul Khrusum Tahiru, Head of the Gender Desk at A1 Radio, during the handing over of the cash, expressed gratitude to all contributors and called on residents of the region to prioritize supporting the vulnerable and less privileged, especially during critical health situations.

“I think as a region, we need to take this kind of support and contribution seriously because today it may be Micah’s family, but tomorrow it could be yours,” she said.

On his part, David Azure, a lead advocate for Micah’s appeal at A1 Radio, thanked everyone who contributed and urged individuals, philanthropists, and organizations to continue donating to support Micah’s treatment.

“Although appealing for these funds over the past five months has been challenging, we are deeply grateful for the contributions received so far, which we are honored to present today,” he said.

Mr. Azure emphasized the importance of timely support, encouraging individuals to contribute whatever they can, rather than waiting to accumulate large resources when helping those in need, particularly with medical expenses.

Baby Micah’s father, Daniel Ayine Akolgo, expressed heartfelt appreciation to A1 Radio’s management, staff, and donors, saying, “God Almighty will richly bless those who have contributed or will contribute.” The family is grateful for the support and hopeful for Micah’s successful surgery.
