MTN Ghana is deepening its commitment to digital education with plans to establish a state-of-the-art robotics hub at the University for Development Studies (UDS). This initiative was announced by Adwoa Wiafe, Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer at MTN Ghana, during this year’s MTN Editors Forum held in Tamale.

The upcoming facility will offer digital training to equip students and educators with practical skills in robotics, programming, electronics, and other STEM-related fields.

“MTN Ghana is partnering with the University for Development Studies to build a robotics hub at UDS. The facility will include office spaces, and we are leveraging the expertise of the university and other partners to make this a success. One of our key conditions is that the hub must be accessible to others beyond the university,” Wiafe said.

She added, “We are committed to community development, and this project is part of our broader responsibility to give back to the people who have supported us. Whether through media engagements, capacity building, or digital projects like this one, we will continue to invest in the communities we serve.”

The robotics hub is expected to become a major center for innovation and skills development in northern Ghana. It aligns with MTN Ghana’s strategy to reach 75% digital capability by 2025, focusing on inclusive digital transformation, education, and national development priorities.

This initiative follows MTN Ghana’s recent investment in STEM education, such as the commissioning of a GHS 2.28 million robotics center at Mamfe Methodist Girls’ Senior High School. That facility includes a 100-seater hall, robotics training labs, research rooms, and internet connectivity.

MTN Ghana’s sustained investment in educational infrastructure underscores its commitment to nurturing digital literacy and empowering the next generation of innovators. The establishment of the UDS robotics hub is expected to advance this mission, offering students essential tools to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
