Mary Akologo, a young woman from the Upper East Region, is one of the many success stories emerging from the Ghana Grows Program. Initially skeptical when she first heard about the initiative, her participation in the Empower 360 training has since become a life-changing experience.
Speaking on A1 Radio, Madam Akologo revealed that she had the opportunity to travel to Accra (the national capital) for the first time, where she and other participants received hands-on training in various vocational skills, including resin craft, soap making, and makeup artistry.
“My experience in the Empower 360 was amazing because we had a lot of fun, and I was able to go to Accra for the first time. We received different types of training: resin craft, soap making, and makeup artistry,” she said.
She explained that she chose to focus on makeup artistry and completed an intensive five-week training program designed to prepare participants for entrepreneurship.
What sets Empower 360 apart is its commitment to ensuring participants can immediately apply what they’ve learned. Madam Akologo highlighted that, at the end of the training, they were equipped with starter packs, allowing them to launch their own businesses without the usual financial barriers.
She encouraged other young people, especially those between the ages of 15 and 35, to take advantage of the program. Her message was one of determination and openness to opportunity, emphasizing that success requires taking initiative and trusting credible support systems.
“You don’t just wake up one day and get something. To achieve anything in life, you have to make an effort. Not every opportunity that comes your way is a scam. Sometimes, you need to try and see what comes out of it.”
“I can testify to this particular program. At first, I didn’t believe it, but now I’m telling everyone between the ages of 15 and 35 that it’s real. I’ve gone through it, and I encourage other young people to join so they can also receive a starter pack like I did,” she added.
