Ena Foundation, a non-profit organization, is set to carry out its fifth major educational outreach project in the Bolgatanga East District of the Upper East Region. The initiative, which falls under the foundation’s education-focused “Pencil Up” project, aims to support over 800 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates this year.

The “Pencil Up” project was introduced in 2021 in response to the educational challenges highlighted during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Led by the foundation’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Grace Mawuena Koveh, the initiative was designed to provide essential examination tools such as mathematical sets, pens, pencils, and erasers to candidates in underserved communities.

Since its inception, the project has reached candidates in several districts, including Sumbrungu Circuit in Bolgatanga Municipal, Yorogo Circuit in Bongo District, Tongo Circuit in Talensi District, and Paga Circuit in Kassena Nankana West District. Each distribution is accompanied by motivational sessions aimed at encouraging students to believe in their potential, regardless of their geographic location.

This year, the project will extend its reach to the Zuarungu Circuit in Bolga East District, as well as selected schools in the Bolgatanga Municipality. Scheduled for Monday, June 9, 2025, there are preparations to deliver learning materials to all targeted schools.

Despite the limited financial resources available, the foundation has sustained its impact through the dedication of volunteers—most of whom are students or young professionals—and the support of friends and family.

The team continues to appeal for assistance from individuals, corporate organizations, and philanthropic bodies that align with the foundation’s vision. Ena Foundation is open to partnerships and welcomes any form of support, including donations of educational materials, transportation assistance, refreshments for volunteers, or financial contributions to facilitate the success of this year’s outreach.
