Dr. Nicholas Zangina, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) communications team in the Upper East Region, has expressed confidence in the government’s efforts to restore economic stability and foster national growth.

Speaking on A1 Radio, Dr. Zangina outlined what he described as promising signs of recovery in both macroeconomic and microeconomic indicators. He highlighted declining inflation rates, a stronger Ghanaian cedi, and reduced fuel prices as evidence of the country’s ongoing economic rebound under the current NDC administration.

“It is clearly evident in the macro and microeconomic indicators. As of the end of May, inflation dropped from 21 to 18 percent. The exchange rate has also declined in favor of the Ghanaian cedi, and the prices of goods and services in some sectors of the economy are coming down,” he said.

Ghana’s Economic Recovery in 2025

Dr. Zangina credited these improvements to sound fiscal policies and enhanced monetary management. He emphasized that the reduction in fuel prices is a major contributor to lower transportation and production costs, offering much-needed relief to businesses and households.

He further pointed out that the positive trend in inflation and exchange rate performance demonstrates growing investor confidence and improved economic management by the government.

24-Hour Economy Policy to Boost Trade and Jobs

Dr. Zangina also discussed the government’s upcoming 24-hour economy policy, which is expected to officially launch on July 1, 2025. The initiative will ensure that major ports of entry operate 24/7, aiming to increase trade efficiency, generate employment, and support continuous economic activity throughout the country.

“The 24-hour economy is coming up on July 1. The president has declared that our major ports of entry will be operational around the clock. This is part of a broader strategy to enhance economic growth,” he noted.

Call for Unity and Support Across Political Lines

Dr. Zangina underscored the government’s goal of building an inclusive economy that serves all Ghanaians, regardless of political affiliation. He called on the minority in Parliament and other stakeholders to support the administration’s initiatives aimed at long-term economic transformation.

“We are gradually turning the economy to a position that would favour every Ghanaian, irrespective of political affiliations,” he reiterated.

He concluded by urging Ghanaians to rally behind national development efforts, emphasizing that the success of the economy requires unity, bipartisan support, and collective responsibility.
