Abdul Rahman Danladi, a prominent figure in Upper East and Ghanaian sports, particularly in volleyball, has been appointed to act as the Upper East Regional Sports Director after the transfer of Ibrahim Jihad to the Northern Region.

Danladi started his coaching career in 2015 as assistant coach of the male National Volleyball Team of Ghana, known as the Black Spikers. He was later confirmed as head coach from 2019 to 2023 and took the team to the African Cup of Nations Volleyball Zone 3 tournament in Ivory Coast in 2022.

Currently, Abdul Rahman Danladi is the head coach of Ghana’s senior women’s national indoor volleyball team. He was appointed in January 2023.

Danladi oversees the team’s operations and also supervises coaches of various youth national indoor volleyball teams.

Danladi’s love for volleyball is unmatched as he oversees the day-to-day affairs of Mobil Volleyball Club in Bolgatanga, the Upper East Regional capital, where he nurtured a lot of talent, such as Ibrahim Iddrisu (Azah Malam), Ajara Abubakar Jabuur (national team player), Sandra Ayepoa (national team player), Elkaana Aziks (national team player), Martin Ayimbire (University of Ghana), Latifa Abanga (Kalibi Volleyball Club), and many more.

The official handover exercise was conducted by the outgoing Regional Director, Ibrahim Jihad, on Thursday, 9th July, 2025, as he proceeds to the Northern Region to continue his work.
