Reverend Eastwood Anaba, President of the Eastwood Anaba Ministries (EAM), has praised Four Rivers International School for transforming education in the Upper East Region by making quality education accessible and sparing parents the hardship of sending their children to boarding schools in southern Ghana.

Speaking as the guest of honour during the school’s 25th anniversary and graduation ceremony held at Fountain Gate Chapel, Desert Pastures in Bolgatanga over the weekend, Rev. Anaba hailed the school’s journey from modest beginnings to becoming a symbol of hope and excellence in the region.

“In conjunction with other institutions in the region, Four Rivers International School has banished the nightmare of parents having to take their young children to boarding schools in the southern parts of Ghana,” he said to applause from dignitaries, staff, parents, and students.

Highlighting the enduring vision behind the school, Rev. Anaba said Four Rivers was built not merely to produce high exam scores but to nurture transformational leaders rooted in integrity, excellence, and service. “Quality education is not measured only in terms of academic results but by achievement returns — the holistic development of learners who carry these values wherever they go,” he explained.

He credited the school’s success to the founding director, Reverend Mrs. Rosamond Anaba, whose “sensitivity, simplicity, sobriety, servanthood and seriousness” had guided the institution to its current heights. Her openness to new ideas, commitment to serve a region once described as disadvantaged, and willingness to embrace children beyond her own family, he said, had helped “open doors for many generations to come.”

“The region is seen as one of the last, but it is not a lost region,” Rev. Anaba declared, urging the community to reclaim its confidence, revive its values, and push for excellence rather than settling for modest effort. “It is not enough to try. Let us do it,” he emphasised, warning that mere wishful thinking would not close the development gap with the south.

Beyond academic achievement, Rev. Anaba emphasised the school’s hallmark of orderliness and openness to innovation as central to its philosophy. “The proof of its openness is the orderliness it imposes on its leaders and the environment,” he noted, adding that such discipline ensures that graduates of Four Rivers International School “export the philosophy and practice of excellence to every destination they reach.”

Reflecting on regional challenges, Rev. Anaba also called for lasting peace in the Upper East Region, warning that recurring conflicts threaten children’s education and the region’s future. “Let us create peace for our children and secure their future,” he urged.

To mark the anniversary, Eastwood Anaba Ministries donated an electronic screen to help the school communicate more effectively.
