The Eastwood Anaba Ministries (EAM) has awarded a life-changing scholarship to 13-year-old Master Jed Zuri Yenongre, a Junior High School (JHS) student of Four Rivers International School in Bolgatanga, covering his education from JHS through to university.

Master Zuri, who has consistently distinguished himself as an outstanding learner, scored a remarkable raw total of 831 out of 900 in the latest academic year, representing an average of 92.33 percent. Traditionally, the school honours its overall best student with a scholarship covering one term’s school fees. However, during the school’s 25th anniversary and graduation ceremony held at Fountain Gate Chapel, Desert Pastures, over the weekend, Rev. Eastwood Anaba, President of EAM, stunned the gathering by extending the scholarship.

“Can we change your award on this particular occasion to make it throughout his JHS and university? So up to university, EAM will take care of this particular child,” Rev. Anaba announced, adding, “This is the cheque for the one term school fees, but it has been escalated to throughout his JHS and university as far as he can go.”

Speaking to the media after receiving the scholarship, a visibly excited Master Zuri expressed deep gratitude. “Winning this award has made me feel happy. All my hard work and dedication have finally paid off. I want to thank all the people who have helped me through this journey—the teachers, my dad, my mom—for encouraging me and giving me the pressure because it brings out the best in me,” he said.

He added, “I’m very grateful to Daddy (Rev. Eastwood Anaba) for this scholarship. That will really help us. I’m very motivated to learn hard and push harder so that I can achieve more in the future.”

Master Zuri’s mother, Ernestina Zuri, overcome with joy, also thanked Rev. Eastwood Anaba, his wife, Reverend Mrs. Rosamond Anaba, the church, and the school for the gesture. “When he was in Class 6 going to JHS, he was the overall winner for the entire senior primary, and this time too, he is the overall best winner again. And not just that—our Daddy (Rev. Eastwood Anaba) said it won’t just be for one term as it used to be, but from JHS to university,” she shared.

Reflecting on the impact of the scholarship, she added, “It has lifted the financial burden on our family. University is not an easy decision, so if from now up to university we are not supposed to pay anything, I don’t know how to thank God enough. It has relieved us from our financial stress.”

Mrs. Zuri also praised Four Rivers International School for nurturing her son beyond academics. “Their core values, the training, and everything they do help to shape the students holistically to become transformational leaders in the future. Even if the fees were millions and I could afford it, I would pay because of what they impart to our children,” she said.

The special scholarship award was one of the highlights of the anniversary event, which celebrated the school’s 25-year journey of academic excellence and transformational leadership in the Upper East Region.
