Ghanaian-born musician Samuel Asaa, known by his stage name SamAiam, currently based in California, USA, is calling for increased support for young musical talent in his hometown of Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region of Ghana.

In a statement released through his Public Relations Officer, David Azure, SamAiam expressed concern over the lack of institutional and community backing for emerging musicians, noting that many passionate and talented youth struggle to reach their full potential due to limited resources and opportunities.

“Many gifted youth in Bolgatanga and across Ghana lack the support needed to develop their God-given musical talents,” he stated. “In light of this observation, I have begun implementing measures to ensure these gifted individuals succeed in their careers.”

SamAiam is calling on well-meaning Ghanaians, government agencies, music industry stakeholders, and philanthropists to join him in creating a supportive ecosystem that nurtures and empowers emerging musicians. He emphasized that such support is vital for the growth of Ghana’s music industry and for unlocking the creative potential of the nation’s youth.

“It is essential for stakeholders to identify and uplift these young musicians. By doing so, we prevent the waste of their potential and empower them to contribute meaningfully to the Ghanaian music scene,” he said.

A Message to the Youth

SamAiam also issued a motivational message to young creatives, urging them to stay focused and committed to their craft while avoiding behaviors that could derail their progress.

“To the youth, remain focused and dedicated to your craft. Avoid behaviors that could jeopardize your future and tarnish your reputation. I believe in your potential, and I am confident that together, we can overcome the challenges you face and build a brighter future,” he encouraged.

Collaboration Is Key

The California-based musician stressed the importance of collaboration, noting that collective effort is required to create sustainable opportunities for young artists in Ghana. By supporting youth in the music industry, stakeholders can help shape a stronger cultural identity and a vibrant entertainment sector.

SamAiam’s ongoing initiative seeks to positively impact the lives of young musicians in Bolgatanga and across Ghana, aiming to develop a new generation of artists who can thrive locally and globally. With the right support, he believes these artists can make significant contributions to Ghana’s cultural and creative industries.
