Upper East Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairmanship hopeful, Dr. Moses Atinga, has made a passionate appeal for unity and reconciliation among party members, emphasizing that political success depends on collective strength and inclusive participation.
Speaking on A1 Radio, Dr. Atinga underscored the importance of every member, regardless of current standing, in the party’s quest to reclaim power in the 2028 general elections.
“For me, within the region, if I am given the mandate, I will reach out to all those who are disgruntled and bring everybody back. I am going to engage them, together with the good elders of the party in the region,” he stated.
He pledged to adopt a grassroots campaign strategy, focusing on door-to-door and house-to-house engagements aimed at rebuilding trust, loyalty, and solidarity within the party’s base. Dr. Atinga emphasized the “cascading effect” of political mobilization, explaining that every connection plays a critical role in winning electoral support.
Addressing recent internal party disputes, particularly the suspension of some executives, Dr. Atinga described the situation as “deeply worrying.” He cautioned that disunity at such a crucial time could jeopardize the party’s prospects in the next election.
“Unity is essential if we are to recapture power,” he said.
He further urged all factions involved in the disputes to consider the broader image and integrity of the NPP.
“We cannot be talking about reflecting and rebuilding, and yet engaging in public media wars. That is not acceptable,” he warned.
Dr. Atinga called on party elders to mediate and help resolve the ongoing tensions, stressing the need for reconciliation as a critical path to victory. He expressed optimism that aggrieved members who may have drifted away from the NPP could return if sincere efforts were made to mend relationships.
“Some who left may have hoped to find favor in other political camps, but they will return if they see a genuine commitment to unity,” he noted.
He concluded with a confident message to delegates ahead of the upcoming regional elections, “A message will come out very clearly… the good delegates of this party will speak come the elections.”
