Captain Victor Amoah, an aviation consultant and experienced pilot, has appealed to the public to exercise restraint and avoid premature conclusions regarding the tragic military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight individuals, including two cabinet ministers—Dr. Omane Boamah, Minister of Defence, and Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment, Science, and Technology.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, August 6, sending shockwaves across the nation.

Speaking on A1 Radio, Captain Amoah stated that while the nation mourns the loss of dedicated public servants, it is imperative that the public refrains from speculative commentary.

“A proper investigation will be launched in accordance with international protocols to determine the cause of the crash. Until then, we must remain calm and respectful,” he urged.

He explained that under the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) guidelines—specifically Annex 13—a qualified investigation team will be empaneled to probe the incident.

“Annex 13 outlines the standards and recommended practices for aircraft accident and incident investigations. The objective is not to assign blame but to prevent future occurrences,” he emphasized.

Captain Amoah noted that the aviation sector operates under stringent international regulations, and incidents of this nature require a systematic, scientific approach to uncover the root cause.

“A committee will be established soon to begin investigations. They will analyze flight data, maintenance records, and other technical aspects,” he added.

He called on citizens—especially media commentators and political figures—to demonstrate decorum and allow professionals to do their work.

“This is a time of national grief. Let us honour the memories of those who died by seeking truth, not rumours,” Captain Amoah concluded.

The aviation community and the entire country now await the findings of the official investigation.
