The Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo, has dismissed allegations that the job opportunities he has created for his constituents are specifically reserved for women. He described the claims as unfounded and without merit.

In an exclusive interview with Joshua Asaah on Bolga FM’s Zina Yela show, Mr. Adongo stated that he has supported many people in his constituency to secure jobs across various sectors in the country without knowing them personally.

According to him, whenever he finds a job opportunity, he collaborates with community leaders, including Assembly Members, to help identify suitable candidates. His focus, he stressed, is on unemployed individuals, particularly those from financially vulnerable backgrounds.

“I heard people saying that when we came, I only give job opportunities to ladies. But are the ladies not our sisters? Are they not our wives? The truth is, I don’t discriminate. If I get an opportunity and I am asked to recommend someone, I don’t even know who the person is most of the time. My priority is to get my people jobs so they can feed their families,” he explained.

Mr. Adongo further emphasized that in many cases, beneficiaries of his efforts have never met him before. “These people I am helping to secure jobs, I don’t know them. For instance, if you are a leader in Sherigu community and there’s an opportunity, I will ask you to bring one or two people with the required qualifications. If the person you recommend happens to be a woman, should I reject her simply because she is a woman?” he questioned.

The Bolgatanga Central MP, who also serves as Chairman of the Finance Committee in Parliament, called on his constituents to remain calm as he continues to lobby for more development projects and job opportunities for them.
