A group called Friends of Prosper has donated a 55-inch smart television and an undisclosed sum of money to support the furnishing of the yet-to-be-commissioned Upper East Regional Passport Office in Bolgatanga.

The donation was made on behalf of Prosper Ayimbila Awini, a native of Tindonmolgo in the Bolgatanga Municipality, who currently works with the Ministry of Finance.

Speaking to the media, a member of the group, Augustine Asabila, explained that the gesture was not only to support the office but also to appreciate the efforts being made to improve infrastructure in the region.

“We are here to donate this on behalf of our brother, Prosper. It is not just about the television and token of cash, but the spirit behind it — to support ongoing investments in the future and hope of the region,” Mr. Asabila said.

The Upper East Regional Passport Office project is spearheaded by Alagumgube, a volunteer group that rehabilitated an old Ghana Commercial Bank building in Bolgatanga to serve as a temporary office. The move follows years of complaints by residents who had to travel to Tamale to acquire or renew passports.

Receiving the items,    the founder of Alagumgube, Gabriel Agambila Akakiire, expressed gratitude to Friends of Prosper and called on other benevolent groups and individuals to emulate the gesture.

“You know, we have other big people in the region, but they haven’t even stepped foot here to see what we are doing. So, we don’t take this visit lightly. On behalf of Alagumgube and our partners, I say thank you,” he noted.
