The Member of Parliament for Talensi, Daniel Dung Mahama, has begun discussions with two large-scale mining companies operating in the constituency, Earl International Gold Mining Company and Cardinal Namdini Mining Limited, to seek their support in dredging dams using their heavy-duty earthmoving equipment.
The initiative aims to boost dry-season farming and improve water availability for irrigation in the area.
Michael Nangena, the NDC’s Talensi Constituency Communication Officer, disclosed this during an interview with Gerard Asagi on the Day Break Upper East Show on Wednesday.
“I was part of the visit to Cardinal Namdini and Earl International where the MP made a presentation. Among the things he requested was for the companies to use their heavy-duty equipment to dredge some dams in the constituency so that we can have water for dry-season farming,” Mr. Nangena said.
He added that the discussions had been fruitful, noting that Earl International had shown strong interest in supporting the MP’s request.
“They said they needed a list of the dams we want them to assist with, and that will be provided,” he stated.
