Cardinal Namdini Mining Limited (CNML) has inaugurated a new partnership with the Talensi mining community to develop a Social Responsibility Agreement (SRA) aimed at fostering sustainable development, preserving cultural heritage, and promoting environmental stewardship in the area.
The move comes in response to persistent community concerns about limited local employment opportunities and the perceived unfair distribution of benefits from mining operations in the Talensi District.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the Vice President of Cardinal Namdini Mining Ltd., Qi Xuanya, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to building strong, mutually beneficial relationships with the Talensi community.
“We firmly believe that our success as a mining company is directly tied to the well-being and prosperity of this community,” he said. “When Cardinal thrives, the Talensi community thrives alongside.”
Mr. Xuanya emphasized that the company will engage local stakeholders, listen to their needs, and collaborate on initiatives that reflect the aspirations of the Talensi people.
“Together, we have the opportunity to forge a legacy that benefits generations to come,” he added.
The agreement, he explained, is expected to drive economic growth, enhance community development, and strengthen environmental responsibility across the district.
The event brought together key stakeholders, including the Paramount Chief of the Talensi Traditional Area, the Member of Parliament for Talensi, the District Chief Executive, traditional leaders, civil society organizations, youth groups, and company officials to discuss the framework for the upcoming negotiations.
The Member of Parliament for Talensi, Daniel Mahama, commended the company for initiating the process and urged it to build strong partnerships with local communities to foster unity and inclusive development.
The Talensi District Chief Executive, John Millim Nabwomya, assured CNML of his office’s readiness to work closely with the company to ensure mutual growth and sustainable development within the district.
Meanwhile, the Paramount Chief of the Talensi Traditional Area, Tongraan Naab Kugbilsong Nanlebegtang, encouraged all committee members involved in the negotiations to work effectively with the company to ensure that the communities derive meaningful benefits from the agreement.
The inauguration of the Social Responsibility Agreement negotiations marks a new chapter in the partnership between Cardinal Namdini Mining Limited and the Talensi mining community, setting the stage for inclusive dialogue and shared progress.
