The Upper East Regional Minister, Donatus Akamugri Atanga, has urged the newly appointed headmistress of Bolgatanga Girls’ Senior High School (BOGISS), Ms. Gifty Ayamba, to foster inclusivity and unity among staff and students while eliminating tribal divisions within the institution.

Ms. Ayamba paid a courtesy call on the Regional Minister at his office in Bolgatanga following her appointment as headmistress, succeeding Madam Patricia Agoteba Anaba, who recently retired after years of service.

Welcoming her to her new role, Mr. Atanga congratulated Ms. Ayamba and called on her to lead with fairness, transparency, and a strong sense of purpose. He urged her to “detribalize the school” and build an environment that reflects harmony and respect for diversity.

“Lead with integrity, promote unity, and ensure that both staff and students work together regardless of their ethnic or religious backgrounds,” the Minister said. “Adopt an open-door leadership style and avoid tribalism, favoritism, or bias in your administration.”

He emphasized that unity within the school community was essential for maintaining peace, discipline, and academic excellence, and encouraged the new headmistress to collaborate closely with all stakeholders.

In response, Ms. Ayamba expressed gratitude to the Minister for his guidance and pledged to uphold the principles of inclusivity, discipline, and academic growth.

“This role is a learning process, and I will do my best to manage the school effectively and ensure that BOGISS continues to achieve academic excellence,” she said. “We will feed the Minister with good learning outcomes through hard work and commitment.”

The meeting symbolized a smooth leadership transition at one of the region’s leading girls’ senior high schools and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting discipline and inclusivity in educational institutions.
