The Upper East Regional Minister, Donatus Akamugri Atanga, has appealed for calm and constructive dialogue among stakeholders in the Talensi District following disagreements over the formation of a local committee.

The minister made the call during a meeting involving members of the Talensi Mining Communities Initiative (TAMCI), the Talensi Rock Union, and local assembly members, convened to deliberate on the way forward.

Mr. Atanga urged participants to exercise restraint, cooperate in good faith, and maintain mutual respect while addressing their differences.

“We must engage each other with respect and patience. The only way to resolve this is through dialogue and collaboration,” he said.

He also cautioned residents against using social media and radio platforms to make inflammatory remarks, warning that such comments risk fueling divisions and undermining peace in the area.

The minister reiterated his commitment to using the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) as a neutral platform for dialogue and mediation to prevent tensions from escalating further.

“The RCC remains available to all parties as a fair and open space for engagement. Our shared goal must be lasting peace and unity in Talensi,” he added.

The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts by regional authorities to address emerging disputes within mining communities in the Talensi District, which has become a hub of mining-related activities in the Upper East Region.
