The Member of Parliament for Builsa South and Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, has announced the passing of his father, Mr. John Azundem Apaak. The sad event occurred on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital in the Upper East Region.

In a heartfelt message shared on his official Facebook page, Dr. Apaak expressed the family’s sorrow, describing the late patriarch—affectionately called “Baba”—as a man of faith who lived a fulfilled life. Baba had recently celebrated his 81st birthday on October 25, 2025, just two weeks before his passing.

“As a man of faith and a Deeper Life pastor, we have informed the Deeper Life Church in Bolgatanga,” Dr. Apaak noted. He further appealed to the public to respect the family’s privacy during this difficult moment as they mourn their loss.

The late Mr. Azundem is survived by his 76-year-old wife; his children, Clement, Daniel, Anthony, Margaret, and Abel; as well as several grandchildren. Dr. Apaak asked well-wishers and the public to keep the bereaved family in their prayers.

“We ask that you remember his wife, our 76-year-old mother, his grandchildren, and the five of us … in prayer,” he wrote. “We are grateful for his life. Rest in peace, Baba.”

The passing of Mr. John Azundem Apaak has drawn sympathy from constituents, political colleagues, and the wider public, many of whom have taken to social media to extend their condolences to the Apaak family. Further funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course.

Mr. Azundem’s legacy as a father, pastor, and community figure is expected to be fondly remembered within Builsa South and beyond.
