The Builsa North District Director of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Sunday Akpitipola, has called on residents of Buluk to take full advantage of the latest policy directive by the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), which waives the mandatory one-month waiting period for new members and those renewing expired cards.
Speaking on Radio Builsa’s morning show on Monday via phone—and monitored for A1 News reporter by Edmond Kwaching Agwaazeh—the director emphasized that the waiver is a timely intervention aimed at expanding access to healthcare services, especially for vulnerable groups who often experience delays in coverage.
He noted that the measure will ensure that residents who register or renew their membership can immediately benefit from NHIS services without any waiting period.
“This is an opportunity for every household in Buluk to secure uninterrupted healthcare. The waiver means that once you register or renew, you can walk into any accredited facility and receive care right away,” he stated.
The director further urged traditional leaders, assembly members, and youth groups to help spread the message across communities, stressing that improved enrollment will strengthen the district’s health system and reduce out-of-pocket expenses for families.
