Cardinal Namdini Mining Ltd. has extended support to five districts in the Upper East Region as part of activities marking the 2025 National Farmers Day celebration scheduled for December 5. The gesture, presented during a ceremony at the Talensi District Assembly in Tongo, is part of the company’s ongoing corporate social responsibility (CSR) to promote agricultural growth and community development.
Speaking at the presentation, the Vice President of Cardinal Namdini Mining Ltd, Mr. Qi Xuanya, underscored the company’s firm belief in agriculture as the backbone of the local economy. He noted that farming sustains families, ensures food security, and provides sustainable employment for the youth.
“By investing in agriculture, we are investing in the future of our communities,” he said.
Mr. Xuanya stated that the donation was a continuation of the company’s commitment to recognizing the efforts of farmers and supporting the districts within the firm’s operational areas.
Items donated to the Talensi, Nabdam, Bongo, Bolgatanga East, and Kassena-Nankana West districts include 6 motor tricycles (Motor Kings), 60 Knapsack sprayers, and 80 pairs of Wellington Boots. The rest are 100 cutlasses, 5 high-density mattresses, and 20 bags of fertilizer.
“These contributions reflect our unwavering support for the agricultural sector and our commitment to fostering sustainable development within our project districts,” he added.
Mr. Xuanya applauded farmers for their dedication, describing them as “unsung heroes who work tirelessly to ensure that our tables are filled with food,” and extended warm wishes ahead of the Farmers Day celebration.
On behalf of the beneficiary districts, the Talensi District Chief Executive, John Millim Naabwomya, expressed profound appreciation to the mining company. He described the support as “tools of empowerment” that will ease farm labour, improve productivity, and enhance livelihoods.
“For our farmers, every knapsack, cutlass, and fertilizer bag is a step toward increased output and better living conditions,” he said.
Mr. Naabwomya highlighted that the support went beyond Talensi to neighbouring districts, commending Cardinal Namdini Mining for its regional development mindset. He further acknowledged the company’s consistent contributions across sectors such as education, health, community welfare, and social interventions.
“Cardinal Namdini Mining Ltd has once again demonstrated that corporate social responsibility is not just a slogan but an active partnership with the people,” he stated.
The DCE called for strengthened collaboration between government, traditional authorities, security agencies, development partners, and the private sector to accelerate growth within the district and the region.
The donation forms part of Cardinal Namdini Mining’s broader commitment to supporting community development as the company continues its operations in the Upper East Region.
