The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has launched a sensitisation exercise in Bolgatanga to educate players in the informal sector on its modified Taxation App, a digital platform designed to simplify tax payments and expand the country’s tax network.

The engagement brought together hairdressers, market traders, hotel managers, artisans, and other small business operators who form a significant part of Ghana’s informal economy.

Addressing participants, the Chief Revenue Officer at the Bolgatanga Taxpayer Service Centre (TSC), Kwabena Anti Dankwa, explained that the modified app is part of the GRA’s ongoing digitalisation drive, aimed at making tax processes more user-friendly and accessible.

He emphasized that the app has been upgraded to address previous challenges, providing taxpayers with a faster, easier, and more convenient way to meet their obligations.

According to Mr. Dankwa, the app allows users to register, file, and make payments directly from their mobile phones without visiting GRA offices.

“The modified Taxation App is simple and easy to use. This innovation is meant to reduce the stress associated with manual tax filing and to ensure transparency and convenience for all taxpayers,” he noted.

The sensitisation exercise featured practical demonstrations led by national officers from GRA headquarters, guiding participants step by step on how to download the app, navigate its features, verify their tax identification numbers, and complete payment transactions securely.

Participants expressed satisfaction with the training, describing the app as a timely intervention that will enhance compliance and reduce delays. Many assured GRA officials of their commitment to using the app for convenient and prompt tax payments.

The GRA believes that improved adoption of the platform will significantly contribute to expanding Ghana’s tax base, ensuring increased revenue for national development.
