The Chief of Bolga Sherigu, Naba Aluman Apasinaba II, has called for the creation of a separate constituency from Bolgatanga Central, citing the need to strengthen political representation and drive local development.
Speaking on behalf of the Chief at the 2025 Naba Yesika Festival, Naba Akazire Afayure, Chief of Dorongo, emphasized that Sherigu, Sumbrungo, and surrounding areas are key contributors to regional election outcomes and therefore deserve their own constituency.
“We would wish our constituency, if created, to be called Bolgatanga West Constituency,” Naba Afayure said.
The Chief also highlighted the urgent need for an IT and communication center to support local youth. “We are in a digital and AI era, yet my community is without an IT and communication center for the seemingly unemployed youth to learn and explore available opportunities and unearth their God-given talents,” he noted.
The push for a separate constituency and IT infrastructure aims to boost development and empower youth in the Sherigu and Sumbrungo areas.
