The Upper East Regional Women Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Madam Fawzia Yakubu Abagnamah, has extended support to the youth of Sumbrungu with a cash donation of GH₵5,000, a set of jerseys, and footballs to boost youth development and community unity.
The support was made during the climax of the annual Sumbrungu Inter-Community Football Gala, after the youth formally extended an invitation to Madam Fawzia to grace the occasion.
The annual football gala, which brings together various communities within Sumbrungu, is aimed at promoting unity, peaceful coexistence and talent development among the youth through sports.
Presenting the items, Madam Fawzia Yakubu Abagnamah commended the organizers for using football as a tool to foster harmony and social cohesion among young people. She described sports as a powerful instrument for youth engagement, discipline and community building, especially at the grassroots level.
She encouraged the youth to remain united and focused, stressing that initiatives such as the inter-community gala help keep young people positively engaged while nurturing local talent.
Madam Fawzia also urged the youth to take good care of the donated items and ensure that they are used for their intended purpose to sustain the tournament in the years ahead.
The leadership and members of the Sumbrungu youth expressed profound gratitude to the NDC Upper East Regional Women Organizer for the timely support, describing it as a major morale booster that would go a long way to strengthen the annual football competition.
They noted that the cash donation and sports equipment would help ease the financial burden of organizing the gala in the future and improve the quality of the matches.
