Andrew Atariwini, a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and part of Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign team, has cautioned against excessive celebration following Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s victory in the party’s presidential primaries.

In a Facebook post, Atariwini questioned the significance of the win, saying, “Interesting! If Bawumia cannot win over the 61% of 2023, trust me it’s not an exciting win; demonstrable of a groundswell likeability of his leadership. So you guys should stop the so-called jubilation! Interesting!! The is a lot to do as a party.”

His remarks underline that, despite the primary results, party members still face work to strengthen the NPP ahead of the 2028 general elections.

The NPP held its presidential primaries on January 31, with preliminary results indicating that Bawumia emerged as the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 elections.
