The Queen Mother of the Feo community in the Bongo District, Pognaba Felicia Agamboka Nonyansoga-Kaisikom I, has appealed to individuals, organizations and corporate bodies to support the upgrade of the Feo CHPS compound to a health center and assist with medical supplies to improve healthcare delivery.

Speaking to a Bolga FM reporter after visiting the facility, she said the absence of essential equipment and infrastructure was hindering the CHPS compound’s ability to provide adequate healthcare to residents.

She called on philanthropists and non-governmental organizations to come to the aid of the facility to enable it to effectively carry out its mandate. Her appeal follows a recent donation to the CHPS compound by GOIL PLC as part of its corporate social responsibility efforts to support communities in need.

The Feo CHPS compound is the only public healthcare facility in the township and serves more than 2,000 patients, including pregnant women and nursing mothers. However, the facility faces severe resource challenges, including the lack of an outpatient department (OPD) ward, proper fencing, and other basic infrastructure needed for quality healthcare delivery.

The Queen Mother said the shortage of beds had been a major challenge. She noted that the community had previously appealed to the Bongo District Assembly and the health authorities but received no response.

“As a result, the community mobilized funds to purchase two delivery beds and other items for the facility,” she said, adding that the CHPS compound had struggled with only two beds for both maternity and general patients, forcing some women to return home shortly after delivery.

She described Feo as one of the largest communities in the Bongo District, with a population of over 2,000 people, and said it had long been overlooked in terms of development projects.

Pognaba Felicia Agamboka urged authorities and benevolent groups to prioritize the upgrade of the facility to ensure improved healthcare services for Feo and surrounding communities.
