The Bolgatanga Municipal Coordinating Director, Musah Chemsi, has passed away after a short illness.
The sad development was officially announced on Wednesday morning when the Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive, Roland Atanga Ayoo, accompanied by senior officials of the assembly, paid a courtesy visit to the office of the Upper East Regional Minister, Akamugri Donatus Atanga, to formally communicate the passing of the Municipal Coordinating Director.
Mr. Chemsi died on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, in Tamale, where he was attending a workshop. According to the Municipal Chief Executive, an autopsy was conducted at no cost, and the late director’s body has since been deposited at the morgue, pending a decision by the family on funeral and burial arrangements.
Briefing the Regional Minister, Mr. Ayoo described the late Mr. Chemsi as a dedicated public servant whose death has come as a major shock to the Assembly and the entire municipality.
The Acting Regional Coordinating Director, Alhaji Mohammed Issahaku, also expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing it as “a death nobody expected.”
In his response, the Upper East Regional Minister, Akamugri Donatus Atanga, conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly, and the Local Government Service. He assured the Assembly of the full support of the Regional Coordinating Council once funeral arrangements are concluded.
The death of Musah Chemsi has left a significant void within the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly, where he was known for his commitment to duty and contribution to local governance and development.
