The Chief of Yarigabisi, Naba-Naam Bilea Zoom Duuan, Naam Bulga Som Kan Keea, Patrick Asaliya III, has emphasized the importance of preserving cultural heritage and promoting unity among his people during the celebration of this year’s Akae-Zeega Festival.

In his speech, the chief said, “We are assembled here today to celebrate this year’s Akae-Zeega Festival under the theme ‘Our tradition, our pride, sustaining heritage for our future generations.’” He added that the festival is a celebration of the community’s resilience and serves as a bridge between their glorious past and promising future.

The chief also expressed gratitude to Almighty God and the ancestors for a bountiful harvest and protection, praying for continued blessings in the coming years. He urged his people to resist attempts to erode their values and to ensure that future generations take pride in their traditions, including music, dance and sacred rituals.

“We must safeguard festivals like this as a people for generations yet unborn,” he said.

He called on his people to join hands in building a united and prosperous Yarigabisi, with a focus on education, healthcare and economic opportunities.

Proceeds from the festival will be used to support the health sector, including the completion of a CHPS compound wall and hepatitis testing and vaccination for more than 50 people.

The chief also applauded the Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga East, Dominic Ayine, for committing to construct a maternity ward, and called on the Regional Minister to address road infrastructure challenges in the community.

The festival was attended by dignitaries, including His Royal Highness Naba Alhaji Abdulai Karifo, Chief of Zeko; the Frafra Chief in Accra; the Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive; and the District Chief Executive for Bolgatanga East. The event was marked by cultural displays and performances.
