The National Union of Tricycle Operators, Ghana (NUTOG), has officially inaugurated its Upper East Regional branch in Bolgatanga, pledging to promote road safety and ensure compliance with traffic regulations.
The inauguration ceremony brought together key stakeholders, including the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA).
Eric Anokye Fordjuor, Head of the NRSA in the Upper East Region, expressed concern about accidents involving motorcycles and tricycles, citing their widespread use in the area.
“These vehicles are affordable and can navigate difficult terrains, but safety must remain a priority,” he said.
Speaking on the theme, “Unity and Discipline on Our Roads: Securing Our Future through the Regularization of Tricycles in Ghana,” NUTOG’s Upper East Regional Chairman, Yakubu Ayamga, welcomed the legalization of tricycle operations and the inauguration of the union. He assured that members would adhere to road and traffic regulations.
“We will ensure our members operate safely and responsibly,” he said, referring to tricycles popularly known as “Mahama Can Do” in Bolgatanga.
Mr. Ayamga further urged all tricycle operators in the region to register as members to enable the union to function effectively.
