The Paga Traders Association has honoured the Managing Director of Kacstone Records, Wenawome Duriyem Aborah, for renovating two pavilions at the Paga Market to improve trading conditions.

The recognition took place during a mini durbar organised by the association in Paga, where the traders expressed gratitude for what they described as a timely intervention that has brought relief to market women and other users, especially during the rainy season.

According to the association, the renovation addressed long-standing challenges caused by leaking roofs, which had left traders exposed to harsh weather conditions for years.

A citation presented to Mr. Aborah commended his “exceptional generosity, selfless leadership, and remarkable support,” noting that he undertook the project at a time when hope was low and no funding was available. The citation further stated that his intervention, which included providing all materials and sponsoring the entire work, has restored comfort and renewed hope among traders.

Spokesperson of the association, Samitu Kumoriwo, recounted the difficulties traders faced prior to the renovation, explaining that repeated appeals to the Kassena-Nankana West District Assembly yielded no results due to lack of funds.

“Years ago, this place was ripped off. When it rained, we had nowhere to sit. We had to run helter-skelter looking for shelter,” she said, adding that the intervention by Mr. Aborah has significantly improved conditions at the market.

She also appealed to government and other benevolent individuals to support the market with additional infrastructure, including electricity and waste disposal facilities.

In his remarks, Mr. Aborah expressed appreciation for the honour and described the project as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, undertaken in collaboration with music legend Michael Adangba.

He revealed a personal connection to the market, noting that he once sold fruits there in his younger years, and was motivated to give back after observing the deteriorating state of the facility over the past two decades.

“Supporting traders is not only about kindness, but also about investing in homes and communities,” he said, pledging to continue contributing to society as resources permit.

Mr. Aborah further called for prayers and support from the community, urging individuals to give back to society regardless of their means.

Also speaking at the event, Mr. Adangba encouraged unity among traders, stressing that impactful contributions do not necessarily require large resources but rather a willing heart.

The renovation project, which cost GH¢24,258, is expected to significantly enhance trading activities at the Paga Market and provide a safer and more comfortable environment for traders and their customers.
