The Upper East Regional Minister, Donatus Akamugri Atanga, has officially handed over three multi-purpose information vans, 16 desktop computers, and routers to the Information Services Department (ISD) to enhance public education and communication in the region.

Speaking at a brief ceremony, the minister said the items form part of a nationwide initiative by the government under President John Dramani Mahama to modernise the ISD and improve information dissemination. He noted that the intervention is part of a broader reform agenda aimed at transforming the department into a more efficient, technology-driven institution.

According to him, the vans are equipped with modern features such as digital screens and public address systems, which will support community engagement and public sensitisation, especially in hard-to-reach areas.

He added that the region has been divided into three operational zones, Bolgatanga, Zebilla, and Navrongo, to ensure effective deployment and wider coverage.

The minister urged officers of the ISD to maintain and use the vehicles responsibly to maximise their impact on communities.

In a related address, the Upper East Regional Information Officer, Bennin Douri Issifu, highlighted the importance of the equipment in strengthening communication at the grassroots level.

He said the new items would support campaigns on government policies, environmental protection, sanitation, and public safety.

He further noted that the vans would help educate citizens, promote development initiatives, and improve access to vital information across rural communities.
