moneycediAn amount of GHC400, 000 has been reported missing from the accounts of the Bawku Municipal Secretariat of the Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Agency (GYEEDA).
The said amount was meant for the payment of beneficiaries of GYEEDA in Bawku who have been unpaid for eight months.

Reliable sources disclosed that the Bawku Municipal Coordinator for GYEEDA, Ayamba Philip was arrested last week and granted police inquiry bail whilst investigations are underway.

In view of this development, a Bawku based civil society organization called Youth for Development and Anti-Corruption Campaigners has called for forensic audit into the accounts of the Bawku Municipal GYYEDA Secretariat to unravel the secrecy surrounding the said missing amount.

President of the Youth for Development and Anti-Corruption Campaigners, Andrew Atariwini told Citi News his outfit will closely monitor the investigations to ensure that the culprits are brought to book.

He cautioned the police against any attempt to shield Ayamba Azuma and any other persons found culpable.

Andrew Atariwini unequivocally stated, “The police should conduct their investigations and come out with the details; we will not sit back and watch this happen and we will make sure the monies of the beneficiaries are retrieved.”

He emphasized, “GHC400, 000 is a huge sum of money and we will not allow somebody to pay it into his account and leaving the beneficiaries to suffer; we are going to make sure the beneficiaries are paid for their labour.”

According to Andrew Atariwini, some of the beneficiaries under the teaching and afforestation modules have for the past four years not received their allowances.

Meanwhile, the Bawku Municipal Coordinator for GYEEDA, Ayamba Philip confirmed that he was being investigated by the police.

He said the issue had been reported to the Upper East Regional Coordinator who was assisting the police in their investigations.

Ayamba Philip admitted that beneficiaries of GYEEDA in Bawku have not been paid for the past eight months.
