Bongo Soe Health Centre gets mechanized borehole to address water crisis

Patients and health workers at the Bongo Soe Health Centre in the Bongo Constituency are set to benefit from improved access to clean water following the drilling of a mechanized borehole facilitated by Member of Parliament Charles Bawa Duah.

The intervention comes after months of severe water shortages at the facility, where patients and staff were forced to wake early to queue with residents or travel long distances to access water, often from unsafe sources.

The situation disrupted healthcare delivery and raised concerns about hygiene and safety at the centre.

Mr. Bawa Duah funded the borehole project through his share of the District Assemblies Common Fund in response to the urgent need.

Speaking during a visit to inspect the drilling works, the MP, accompanied by constituency executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), said access to clean water is essential for effective healthcare delivery.

“This intervention is aimed at easing the burden on both patients and health workers while improving service delivery at the facility,” he said.

The project, which is nearing completion, is expected to provide a reliable supply of safe drinking water, improve sanitation conditions, and allow health workers to focus more on patient care.

Residents of the Bongo Soe community have welcomed the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention that will benefit both the health centre and the wider community.

“This is a legacy project that will continue to support our community for years to come,” some residents said.
