The Chief Executive Officer of the National Ambulance Service, Dr. George Owusu, has commended personnel in the Upper East Region for their professionalism and dedication despite ongoing staffing and operational challenges.

During a working visit to the region, Dr. Owusu praised emergency response teams for maintaining quality service delivery under difficult conditions, including inadequate staff strength and limited ambulance availability.

Speaking to personnel, he acknowledged that some ambulance stations operate with as few as six or seven staff members, making emergency healthcare delivery more difficult.

“Myself and my team from Accra are here briefly to visit you, to engage you, to interact with you, to motivate you and to commend you for the good work you are doing for Mother Ghana,” he said.

Dr. Owusu assured staff that efforts are underway to secure financial clearance for the recruitment of additional personnel to strengthen the workforce across the country.

He also disclosed that government plans to introduce more ambulances in the long term to augment the existing fleet and improve emergency healthcare response nationwide.

According to him, the leadership of the Ambulance Service remains committed to supporting regional teams and creating opportunities for their professional growth and advancement within the service.

The visit included a parade inspection organised in honour of the CEO, showcasing the preparedness and discipline of personnel in the region.

Dr. Owusu commended the officers for their impressive display and reaffirmed the importance of teamwork, resilience and professionalism in emergency medical service delivery.

The Upper East Regional Deputy Chief Advanced Emergency Medical Technician, Azudana Azuda, expressed appreciation for the visit and the encouragement from national leadership, pledging the region’s continued commitment to service delivery.

The engagement formed part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between the national leadership of the Ambulance Service and regional teams while improving emergency healthcare delivery across the country.
