Bolgatanga Central Technical Institute (BCTI) has marked its SRC Week celebration with a dynamic and engaging week-long programme filled with activities designed to showcase student talents, promote community involvement, and emphasize the importance of technical education in building a sustainable future.

According to Diana Kwakye Ayetey, the principal of BCTI, the week kicked off on Monday with an official launch ceremony graced by the Regional TVET Director of the Upper East Region, William Adum. The launch set the tone for a week dedicated to “Building the Future: Ready Force, Innovation, Practical Skills in Technical Education,” the theme for this year’s celebration.

The festivities began with a vibrant Talent Night, “providing students the platform to explore and display their diverse talents and potentials”. “This event not only entertained but also encouraged creativity and confidence among the student body,” she said.

On Tuesday, the institute took its commitment beyond the classroom with a community cleaning exercise along the principal streets of Bolgatanga. This initiative aimed to beautify the town and foster a sense of responsibility and civic pride among students.

The day also featured an intense inter-house debate competition, where students engaged in intellectual discourse, sharpening their critical thinking and public speaking skills. Complementing this was an inspiring talk by the Deputy TVET Director of the Upper East Region, Gilbert Atanga, who, along with the principal, addressed the students on the importance of diligence, determination, and academic excellence.

Cultural Night followed, where students proudly showcased the rich and diverse cultures of the region through performances and displays, fostering unity and cultural appreciation within the school community.

The week’s activities culminated on Friday with a colorful float through the principal streets of Bolgatanga. This parade served as a public awareness campaign, highlighting BCTI’s role in providing essential training and skills acquisition to the youth. The principal expressed hope that many students would become self-employed innovators rather than job seekers, contributing positively to the economy.

The SRC Week celebration will conclude with an exhibition showcasing the various departments of the institute, demonstrating the practical skills and innovations nurtured within the school.

This week-long celebration at Bolgatanga Central Technical Institute not only highlighted the talents and cultural richness of its students but also reinforced the critical role of technical education in empowering the youth to build a prosperous and self-reliant future.

The celebration will conclude on Sunday, 7 May 2026, with a special church service, prayers, and a thanksgiving ceremony. This final event will provide an opportunity for the entire school community to come together in gratitude for the successful completion of the week’s activities. It will be a moment to reflect on achievements, celebrate unity, and seek blessings for continued growth and success in the institute’s mission to build a future-ready, innovative, and skilled workforce
