The Sumbrungu Youth and Development Association (SUYDA) has partnered with Bolgatanga Technical University (BTU) to carry out a large-scale cleanup exercise in Sumbrungu aimed at improving sanitation and promoting public health in the community.

The exercise brought together youth group members and BTU students who cleared gutters, swept public spaces, and collected refuse across key areas of the community.

Speaking after the exercise, SUYDA President Albert Adongo said the initiative forms part of an ongoing effort to keep Sumbrungu clean and strengthen collaboration between the community and the university.

“This initiative forms part of a sustained effort to keep the community clean and promote effective collaboration between the community and the institution,” Mr. Adongo said.

He expressed appreciation to BTU management and students for their participation.

“I want to extend our gratitude to your management for allowing you to come out and help us clean the community. A great thanks go to all of you. We are very, very grateful for your turnout. Your turnout has been very impressive. We are working together and we are living together in the community,” he said.

SUYDA said regular sanitation exercises will continue as part of its development agenda, and called on more residents, institutions, and stakeholders to support efforts to maintain a clean and healthy environment in Sumbrungu.

The collaboration, he said, highlights the growing role of community-based organisations and tertiary institutions in driving local development and public health initiatives in the region.
